ENTOMO 3D GRANT
2020 - 2024

The Virginia Tech University Libraries 3D Lab digitized 280 specimens from the Virginia Tech Insect Collection, the largest and oldest in Virginia, through the CLIR-funded Entomo- 3D project. The primary deliverable for this project was to generate, provide web access, and preserve high-quality photorealistic 3D models of approximately 300 specimens from VTIC.

I began working on this grant as a GA in 2021 and transitioned into the position of lab manager (3D Technical Artist) in early 2023.

As a GA, my role was to process photogrammetry data. I was responsible for the retopology of high-density 3D models, high-resolution detail projection in ZBrush, and creating and applying realistic textures.
As a full-time faculty, my role was to supervise the whole workflow of the lab. On top of the tasks mentioned above, I did photography and 3D processing using Agisoft Metashape.

Below are some of the insects I processed.
