About me

3D Technical Artist

I was born in 1997 in Riga, Latvia. In 2022, I received my MFA in Creative Technologies at Virginia Tech. In 2020, I received my BA in Digital Arts at Stetson University.

I am a 3D Technical Artist at Virginia Tech University Libraries’ Digital Preservation Department, where I manage the 3D Imaging Lab. My work focuses on photogrammetry, laser scanning, Gaussian splat modeling, and other techniques to preserve cultural heritage objects and sites in highly accurate, interactive formats.

As lab manager, my goal is to maximize the quality of our 3D models while optimizing workflows and accessibility. Recent initiatives include implementing a cross-polarized photography setup, developing a streamlined .GLB pipeline for web-friendly models, refining lab workflows, and exploring Gaussian splat models for more immersive, lifelike experiences.

Visit the 3D Imaging Projects tab to see some of the preservation work I’ve led, and check out the Animation tab for a glimpse into my more experimental, artistic side.
